Default Low flight over OKC

What is going on over there? Seems like every week a new safety issue pops up.

money is on the simplest cause of wrong altimeter setting.

Shocker for the news, non flying people. But, all I see is that the system worked. An error was made, caught, mitigated, and no injuries or bent metal.

True the system worked, but one really needs to focus on why the system was needed and an error mitigation triggered.

No, it's a shocker for this 23,000 hour part 121 Captain. Looking at the flight path has me wondering what the heck was going on in that cockpit.
This is becoming a weekly thing. Sooner or later that SWA luck is going to run out.
Can any long time SWA pilots elaborate on what they think the cause of these events is?

Article says 500' AGL at nine miles from the field?

If correct, that's not low on GS or MDA set wrong, that's more like a CFIT scenario.

I can but it wouldn’t be well received by some.

This looks like maybe they lined up on another airport.

that would be a much better assumption than CFIT. There ain't any there.

do you guys back up visuals with some sort of magenta. This line up was not even close to the OKC RW course. Very strange for a Captain with the reported experience do something like this.
