Activist Investor pushing changes at SWA

Could it be that SW is going all in on a slow down on travel and limited money for travel in the next few yrs? With ULCC basically going under does SW see themselves as the stop gap between legacy prices and ULCC products?
if so it's a big gamble, just like their fuel hedge in 2008.

That is a way bigger gamble than any fuel hedge. Fuel hedge is common practice and spending excess cash to prepay fuel isn’t really much of a risk at all. Minor opportunity cost is all.

Say what you will about EIM, they have identified the main issues at SWA. Like everyone else on this forum I have friends and family who travel a lot for both business and leisure. Without exception they all tell me they avoid using SWA when able. They only travel on us if there is no other choice. It's uncanny how they all have the exact same reasons for avoiding us. This is what they say:
1) Your boarding process is terrible
2) I need/want to reserve my seat (see #1)
3) Your flight attendants are rude
4) You guys are expensive
Most tell me that if they have a choice for their itinerary they will choose the competition so they can reserve their seat, even if it costs more. This seems to be the biggest issue right now.

This is a relatively new thing. I used to hear only good things but since Covid 90% of comments are negative when I tell people who I work for.

I am guessing that you do not consider barking and yelling at the passengers as being rude . Also our FAs are very lazy. They do not want to do a service even if the ride is beyond smooth. The company is to scared of them to do anything.

I'm tempted to just cut in once and say "take a breath buddy..."

You guys are correct about the incessant barking over the PA. That is the chief complaint. You're also correct about FAs not wanting to serve, ever. "It's too bumpy to serve, right?"
We have really fallen from grace post Covid - not that we were stellar before. Dallas has built a fortified bunker around the GO so I don't expect anything to change unless EIM accomplishes their stated mission. Fortunately it's very hard to kill an airline anymore.

I have and only few occasions have had FA's not wanting to serve and their reasons were valid. I really do think you guys are making a mountain out of mole hill on this issue. Yes, there were a lot of PA's during COVID, but that was a fiasco from the start with Dr. Doom, and the mask wearing joke.

Our cabin crew are generally so bad that when I come across one who is willing to do their job, it’s actually refreshing. They’re still riding the mask-nazi high from four years ago and haven’t realized their bread is buttered when people actually enjoy the product they paid for.
Haranguing people during boarding, incessant PAs, introducing themselves as hi,imitstoobumpytoserve… all of that plus the rampant abuse of pre-board has contributed to the rapid decline in our product and the unwillingness of anyone to pay a premium for it. We can’t grab yield because we’ve pi$$ed off anyone willing to pay extra to get on our planes.
The back end crew need a wholesale attitude adjustment and reminder of just how easy they are to replace. I could go to an LSU vs Ole Miss game and have 20000 bubbly and attentive candidates to scab their jobs tomorrow.
And our pilot group needs to stop trying to plow airplanes into the ground 4 miles short of the runway, while I’m on a rant.
