Activist Investor pushing changes at SWA

My enemy's enemy is my...well, not my enemy. Elliot and SWAPA would both like to get rid of GK but I think that is where the common ground ends. If Elliot goes through the second floor like Sherman through Atlanta, it might just be what SWA needs.

PBS will really screw us in vacation and training months, not so much in monthly schedules unless they change how our pairings are constructed. Between tomorrow and 7/14 I have 3 full days at home coming. PBS can't work me more than that, though bad pairings would pay me less. That said, they better have thier bankruptcy filing ready if they expect to get PBS, that turd isn't getting voted in here willingly.

We have to give concessions, they can't take them. We aren't going through BK nor are we in an economic calamity. If everybody chills out and holds the line we will be fine. This is the time that being a unionized employee group with a strong, unified message helps our cause. Acting like chicken little or being flippant doesn't help anybody. There is literally about zero that we can do as individuals that will change this process. I know a lot of us are control freaks, but this is way out of your circle of influence.

I don't think GK is going anywhere. He'll be staying. The whole board was picked by him and more importantly, the institutional investor's back him. Top ten institutional investors hold almost 330 million shares. Only one so far has as sided with Elliott. The rest have been very quite. Like it or not, GK has a huge reputation on Wallstreet and his tenure as CEO made a lot of money for shareholders. That goes a long way. BJ on the other hand, his job is definitely on the line. He can be replaced and probably will be. If they plan all these "new revenue initiative's", then a good place to start would be a new commercial officer. Since it's their job to bring revenue in, fresh blood with some experience in this realm would be good. Somebody who has dealt with the complexities of revenue management with all these new(really standard) idea's that are supposedly will be announced in the fall. As always though, SWA will try to reinvent the wheel.

PBS would only get sold to the pilot group here if AFTER the lines are published, then vacation overlap is applied. It won't happen just because it defeats the purpose. As somebody has mentioned already, we have the most productive group. Highest block per duty period of the any. It would save a few million but we would spend it on waiting for rampers as we burn Jet A. It's a wash IMO.
