You should put your app in and update every 2 to 4 weeks regardless of what rumors you hear. There is one well known axiom in this business, which is that airlines go from not hiring to hiring very quickly. You want to be ahead of those that wait to hear hiring has resumed then put in their app.
It's hard to predict exactly where BNA will fall as it's so new and bids won't inlcude new hires for the time being, but it's not espically senior in either seat. Recenty BWI has typically been the most junior, but new hires have managed to get MCO also.
However, if you are interested in working here, I wouldn't worry about what base you'll have for your first few months. We have a good commuter policy in the contract and there is none of the "reliablity bs" that you have at some places like UA or FDX where you need to worry as a probabtionary pilot.
And lastly, apply everywhere. If you really want to come here, you are more competive if you already work at DL/UA/AA. Or SWA maybe never call...

I've flown with more than a few new hires in MCO the past few months that can't hold other bases, which is quite surreal to me after over a decade of never flying with an MCO based new hire.

Haha! you tried to prevent the onslaught of “why don’t you leave?” by adding your approaching retirement but…that didn’t work at all! 😂 This forum is so silly! I know, I know… “then why do you come here?”

ATC unable to plan? You'll tell them to eat a bag? Yeah okay. Tell me you've never flown into ATL without telling me.
ATL are the best controllers in the world, and they push tin like no others. The procedures are extremely standard, regardless of weather. Unlike ORD or NYC, or LAX, you always know what to expect if you're not a pleb. You're going to get a downwind and they expect you to descend at a rate fast enough to turn base where everyone else is turning. It's not rocket surgery. No secret tribal knowledge. Just get your ass down and be ready for the approach when they clear you...
