Uhhhh yeaaa buddy that’s usually what happens when an airline literally stops all pilot hiring for 2024 and beyond. Hiring is going to get “competitive” is a hilarious spin.

I believe this video was recorded around January, before the hiring stopped. I'd imagine once hiring does resume that the standards will remain competitive. I've heard this is the case at most places now.

What's this about not using flaps for drag? Is that SOP or more of a technique thing?

The flap policy is currently being reviewed. Apparently it was the pet project of a seagull who saw fit to make sure it ended up in the book. Many in standards do not like it. Some celebrate it.
From a RRM perspective it has no value added.

in the past pilots used flaps to slow down at 250kts. Boeing has put out a recommendation to bot put out flaps until within 10kts of next flaps speed.

Hi all Alaska guy coming in peace former airbus now Boeing

airbus we used flaps as drag to help slow down (crazy I know)

in the Boeing they don’t want us to use flaps as drag same it seems you guys they’d rather us use hear than flaps blows my mind. They are honest at least they says it’s less wear on flap fairings and motor?¿ says it saves them money allegedly

Maybe some dorks at Boeing ran the numbers and saves .00000000000002 cents

no idea but yes they hate using flaps as drag here too
