SWA no longer hiring in 2024

On my OE here I flew with a CKP that insisted on putting flaps out only once reaching the bug. On his leg in to LAS and we get the ol slow to 180 and then down to 6000. We leveled, clean, and then he asked for the landing gear down… once we slowed to 180, now with flaps 5 of course cuz we’re below up bug, we put the gear back up.
Can’t make it up.

“Southwest Airlines…. Making easy hard for 57 years”……..
once the gear is down and secure, there is no reason to raise it….. efficiency is lost at that point, and you gain no bonus points for trying to gain a dollar…… configure early and let er ride….. where I ask for drag (yep flaps are drag to all you flap natzis) has zero reflection on my profit sharing check. Single engine, APU usage, et all….. nothing effects our bottom line….. want profit, charge for bags and premium seats….. however I won’t suck gear up once dropped….. 1,2,5,10,15,25,30 that’s how I drop my drag

RUMINT (although from an approved social media creator and shot while at the mothership) suggests that the next round of hiring will have more competitive standards. Specifically referenced were:
-Increased impact of checkride failures
-1,000 hours of turbine time
While it's not surprising that the 1500 hour CFI era was short lived, plan accordingly future applicants

That’s what they do by their nature. But CKA carrying the water on flap extension is really sad… Has anyone ever heard of this at any other organization? SWA was my first introduction this strange view of flap usage.

“but you might over speed the flaps!”
”only if you’re not paying attention.” Takes no time at all to kick the A/P off and raise the nose while adding in some speed brakes.
