Internet reality and real reality don’t even slightly align on the AA subject from my experience.

I left AA for SW. Much happier now.

I did seven years at original Eagle from 2000-2007. The management vs worker mentality created by AMR brought an incredibly hostile work environment. The whipsawing was unbelievable. Hopefully under AAG it’s different…but I doubt it. I resolved never to work for that group again.

There isn’t a regional airline that will compete with the majors in QoL, work rules, pay, etc. I worked for a decent regional, AAL is better in every way possible. Comparing your experience with 2000-2007 Eagle to mainline AAL is absurd.

At my previous employer I flew with some ex-Eagle pilots. I heard a few stories, sorry you had to suffer through that hogwash.

Ok cool. I doubt you’re DFW based. If you are, sorry.

Go where the puck is going not to where it's been. A career at AMR with there giant retirement wave coming is going to far surpass SWA!

Can’t speak to that but most CAs (while overall nice guys) were kinda miserable and all had stories about how they got screwed or their career should’ve turned out differently. Not the only factor in leaving but definitely a factor. Overall I’m very happy for numerous reasons that I made the jump.

Not absurd at all. The “culture” rolls downhill. We trained at the same building, did the same medical, hell I flew the KC-135 for the sim ride like they all did too. The TWA merger caused so much heartburn it flowed back down to Eagle. Sure, AA was way better. But being where we were with the perpetual carrot on a stick flow-through and unfortunate lost decade—sorry. AMR **** the bed for me.

And by the way, there are regionals currently paying mainline money. Times aren’t what they were back then. Even FedEx is recommending a regional to its current pilots.

Wow, ballsy move. No bubble bursted for me, just seems dumb given the movement in DFW. That illusive “culture” must be worth a lot to you. To each his own.
