2024 Monthly Vacancy Projection Chat
The first projection of 2024 vacancy bid is out, so I figure I'd start a new thread. 54 captain vacancies...
Looks like junior upgrades are back to somewhat normal bases - OAK and LAX. DOH of projected junior upgrade award is June 13, 2017 in OAK. Still holding around 6.5 years. LAX juniormost is projected to be a June 6, 2017 hire.
The next juniormost non-ETOPS junior projections go to MDW followed by non-ETOPS LAS and DEN.
LAS ETOPS, PHX, DAL and HOU are projected to go very senior again.
On the FO side, BWI, MDW, MCO, OAK are going to new hires with only 1 projected to go to LAS non-ETOPS. The seniormost for new hires are DAL, PHX, HOU, ATL, LAS ETOPS, LAX.

The constant stream on 80-100 new hires showing up in BWI each month is proof that the "you get a hard line your first" month thing needs to go away.
If you are new and haven't consolidated, you shouldn't be able to change your reserve pref to "pass". And if that doesn't get you the hours needed, the company can buy some trips off.
Rather then constantantly subjugating the senority of 100 more senior FOs.

the answer you’ll get is “we all dealt with it and it’s not worth negotiating capital to change it.”
SWAPA DGAF because it isn’t a captain problem, it’s an FO problem. They fail to see how gifting the company this is a major hit to both FO QOL and takes money out of pilots pockets.

That is lame. There shouldn't be any negotiating capital spent on it. This looks like a relic practice from the "maverick" Texas airline days. Trampling over FO seniority is our collective problem and company's benefit. Given how this company uses reserves, ZERO reasons why FO's wouldn't achieve their 100 hours within the prescribed timeframe.
I'm blown away that SWAPA has chosen to blow off FO's even in this round of contractual negotiations especially considering data showing it's merely an alignment of industry standard practices. Not cool... not cool at all.

Zard hit the nail on the head. We have had this discussion before. SWAPA doesn't generally waste time on FO problems. The pay disparity B scale is just one example that has gone on for decades and was finally (allegedly, we shall see) fixed by market forces. The "consolidation month" issue could be easily fixed by inserting language that says until a FO has 100 hours, they shall be a fly preference on reserve and at the top of the RCO in order of date of hire. Boom. Fixed. The BWI experiment has shown how detrimental this is in extended periods of hiring.

Anyone who has done the lance thing go in their first month for training? Seems like they push Lance's back to the second month and or last class.
training scheduling said I could not pick the month I go for lance, shocker!
as in bid lance for this vacancy but go in Jan.
Worried if i wait till Feb vacancy, to go in Jan, they'll push me to Feb. Cant go in Feb.
