You can have that $h!t. It’s a great way to take years off of your life.

OMG, i would totally believe that. Honestly, some people will prefer to fly them, so let them.

Drugs. Melatonin works pretty good…now that they’re getting older it’s harder to get them down early. 😂

Your thought process is understandable, but it came across a bit "I cant beleive they pay me to do this job".

In this environment we really need to think about how these comments come across.

funny part is, whenever there was a UPS jump seater I always told them I didn’t go cargo because I didn’t want to fly at night all the time. They all got the irony.

yes. I didn’t like it, but it gave me the most time at home so I did it. Now that I am a Captain I can’t hold these. They go senior on the CA side for some reason.

Spoiler: SWA already has redeyes

Every AM west coast trip touching the east coast is a red eye. Every PM east cost trip touching the west coast is a red eye. You just don't get paid for it.

You do. Its based off your base timezone. So if you are based on EST and you fly until 2AM PST on the west coast your last leg, or legs will have the RE override on them.

I used to do red-eye turns. They were very productive and very commutable but of course they sucked for my health. Now I just get to wake up at ridiculously early hours for the AMs that I can’t always avoid. To me that’s almost more brutal than just being up all night.

Congrats on the upgrade, btw. How many years did it take you at Eskimo? First available?

That’s correct ^^^^. Unfortunately, our red-eye override is only a whopping 3% which is total bull🤬.
