No OGG-HNL-LAX red eyes, which is what they want to do. In addition an extra 50 and hour will just about make sure you have enough volunteers. C shift reserves need a premium also even if they don’t work. Maybe 8.0 a day and 8.5 if the work.

We shall have to wait and see but from the head moron it seems we will not wait long.
You need to reread the contract. There is nothing preventing you from working a flight or two or three and then a redeye currently. The only stipulation on flying after a redeye is that you can't do it unless it's a deadhead. You don't need a 3rd reserve shift as long as the redeye isn't on day 1 and you have proper rest...there is nothing in the CBA preventing it, nor in the FARs. It would be hard to cover with no reserves legal should someone call off before a redeye...so they'd have to reroute, JA, or offer it up for premium....with the new LCO and escalating pay above the rigs...someone will do it.

Neither red eyes or COT are concessions. Both will lead to growth. Is there anything a pilot won’t complain about and analyze to death?

The geniuses haven’t figured out how to send out a release that has a step climb. Redeyes present moon shot type hurdles.

How will the current contract cover the red eye after a late afternoon sick call in the islands? Unless they plan to have embedded reserves...and then, what does their rap look like?

Thus the reason we need to shore up in the new CBA red eye language. They will not schedule a red eye right now because they have no reserve coverage for it if they need to. You would have a hard time finding a JA for it or a reassign as running someone that late means they started late to begin with. We have the leverage because we only have 2 reserve blocks. Do not give the the third block until we get something for it. Those were my ideas of it previously.

I'm pretty sure it's already AIPd.
What the NC thinks us a good deal and what those flying the line thinks may be a bridge too far.
Some of the things already AIPd are out of touch

The same way they cover anything, with a reroute or CX. There are no reserves in HI.

Right. Who has the duty day for a reroute red eye? That'd be a mess to clean up if cx is their only option.

There could be reserves in Hawaii if they build embedded reserve....would love to see them try to build an embedded red eye reserve into a normal pairing!

JA, reroute, LRF….they’ll do what they always do…put out the closest fire and worry about the inferno later.

I’ve had several trips with reports after 1700 where I was rerouted to do a delayed flight and land at 0300, 0400, etc.

Lots of DEN trips have day 1 with reports around 2000-2100 to fly 1 leg to the west coast. I don’t like working past 0200 but I’ll take a 1-2 leg day with show times after dinner any day.
