I have a mid-teens Corolla with a bashed in pax door. Great mileage. Always starts. Pushing 200k mi now without a hiccup. Literally the only thing it has required other than tires, oil changes and air filters is 1 (one) tire pressure monitor sensor. I start it once about every week and a half and drive it to the hotel in base about 2 miles away, then back to the airport to be abandoned for another double digit airport sit. Absolutely the worst way you can treat a car and it just keeps taking it.
A 10ish year old regular gas motor camry or Lexus es is a great airport car. Couple grand to buy, fill up for 30 bucks and drive across Florida and back. Comfy. Reliable. Probably won’t get stolen in the airport lot and low enough to the ground it’s hard to steal the cat off of. Slap winter tires on it if you need the traction in your neck of the woods. Oil every 5000 or so if you feel like treating it and you’ll be right as rain for at least a decade.
To balance out my stable of reliable (5 TMC products in all so far) cars, I’ve already decided an Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio will be my next addition to the group. That is not a good airport car but they are so nice to drive.

Off topic - my airport beater is a 2005 Pontiac hatchback. (Toyota with Pontiac badging in truth). It's got about 150,000 miles on it.
All I do is drive It to the airport and back. I don't care what happens to it in the employee lot. But it's starting to require some expensive repairs and I've been thinking of replacing it.
What's a good airport car that gets great gas mileage, won't attract the attention of bad guys, and ideally is super inexpensive to buy used?

Zap, don't get a Kia or any other car that doesn't have an immobilizer. Google Kia theft if you want to know why. Right now, folks are boosting those cars like crazy in Dallas.
It is almost always cheaper to hang on to an old car that needs a few repairs in my opinion.
My daughter got rear ended and totaled her car, so now we are car shopping. We are in this weird period of time where reality hasn't quite set in for car dealers but you can smell the blood in the water. New car inventories are soaring and so are interest rates. Used car inventory is insanely low and they are charging almost new prices for used vehicles. It is, in my opinion, almost better to buy new than used right now. We are shopping for Honda Civics, HRVs, and Subaru crosstreks and outbacks. You can get a 5 year old used car for 18k with 100k miles or you can get a new one for 7-8k more with 2 years of maintenance and a warranty. No brainer in my opinion. I just wouldn't want to leave a new car in the employee lot.

Nice! I drive a 2004 Pilot and have no plans to get rid of it ever. Nobody touches it in the employee lot or Dallas hotel ghettos.

Subaru dealers seem to have enough stock that they're not marking up anything. Show up with a checkbook, drive away with a car. I like my outback limited XT but I did have to wait a bit to get the turbo in the color I wanted. Lots of non-turbo cars on the lot ready to go. Bonus feature, the cats are tucked up under some body components so it's difficult to steal the cats.

I had no idea TMC was part owner in Mazda and the ford marriage was over. That is fantastic news....all of the new mazda's are good looking cars and really nice inside, too.

Yep. They are going to start using Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive engines in their CX50 starting next year and I would imagine they will hybridize their entire lineup in the next few years. It’s really been an impressive turnaround from their dark years with Ford.
