Rumor that was a new FAA guy on our certificate who couldn't believe we weren't doing walkarounds prior to every leg and threw down the hammer. SWA didn't make that decision. It was forced upon them.

Yes but because the FAA said it was standard in the industry. Checking girt bars and the lav is not. Nor should we be doing other work groups job. What does an FA do to make sure a pilot has accomplished everything. Besides interrupting checklist and flows.

True. Their union should be all over that as we are performing covered work.

Fot what’s it worth we had a national FED in the jumpseat who asked how do you guys like the new guy. We honestly didn’t know what he meant. But apparently expect to see more “industry standard policies” because of him.
