Post Choose SWA or UA based out of LAS?

I just turned 49 and currently hold a CJO for both SWA and UA and have the exact same class date for both at the end of this month. We do not intend to move from LAS for at least a year and I do not want to commute, however we are thinking of moving to Northern AZ (Sedona area) within a few years which leads me to favoring SWA and getting based in PHX at that point. Thoughts?

The answer is United.

What was the question again?

Do you relish the idea of commuting to Baltimore for months? Do you want to work for narcissistic liars that detest pilots? Do you like purple jets that smell like K-mart? Do you plan on getting a lobotomy? Do you want your masters to continuously attempt to siphon money from your paycheck, hoping you won’t catch it? Do you want to fly the 737 for rates that a simple plumber would laugh at? Do you want your CEO to allude that your value is no more than that aforementioned plumber? Do you like FA’s that try to get pilots fired on a regular basis?

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions you will love SW.

👆 This 100%

Every day working for SWA is worse than the previous.

The biggest mistake I made in my career was accepting employment from SWA, don’t make the same mistake we did.

Fixed it for you....

You posted two fantastic solutions to your problems yesterday. With United practically hiring DEC's, and if what you said above is true, why aren't you doing something about it? If each day is indeed worse than the previous, you're a bonafide idiot for staying.

Drama queen much?

And to the OP... United is a much better option, especially at your age. You get to drive to work, will upgrade much quicker if you choose to, and if you want to change fleets and fly something else, LAX or SFO are a very short commute away. Good choice to have.

100 percent this .
Each reason is pure fact .

Just the fact that the company has no problem paying the pilots incorrectly and do not want to even try to resolve the tens of millions they have been caught ( shorting the pilots ) in the last couple of years by the union say it all . SWAPA even offered a program to the company, that was already paid for, to catch pay errors. The company passed on the offer .

The negativity on this board is downright toxic at times. I'm so in training, so my input doesn't hold much say, but I will say that I have friends at united that would say the same negative things about their employer, especially during contract negotiations.

If I was in your shoes I would consider united a well and go where you feel more comfortable. If you really need to make big bugs or upgrade, then united. If money isn't the bottom line for you and you don't care about upgrade then this could be a good place. So far everyone has been fantastic to work with here.

I’m speaking the truth. It’s all sunshine and roses at the training center. Just wait till you HIT the line and that Koolaid wears off, it’ll only take a meltdown, soon you will experience the real SWA CULTure…
