Am I correct in assuming it would make commuting easier for those living in Nashville but not based there since there will be less commuters? Thanks for the input, interview in a couple weeks and figuring all this stuff out and you could probably guess, but looking to move to the Nashville area.
Nobody knows. Depends how fast it grows. I’d imagine someone new would be able to hold it anywhere from their 1st vacancy bid to 6 mos seniority. New hires went to ATL and MCO for Sept so your guess is as good as anyone’s.

BNA is a popular tourist spot like DEN and MCO…flights are generally full in and out. If you’re commuting…I’d only look at frequency from your home and not try and guess what other pilots are doing.

This is exactly what management told our upgrade class. A single weather event could potentially shut down more than one base in FL.

MCI and STL have infrastructure and are well located.

The remaining terminal in MCI goes down by December.

They said that and then told us they were also considering AUS. I asked, “so a summer squall line taking out 3 bases is ok, but a hurricane taking out 2 isn’t….got it”.

No comment from the mgt clown.

Unless it’s a direct hit, you can still operate around hurricanes. Seems their plans of going south aren’t really plans at all.

They're gonna implement this right after they figure out how to fulfill their promise to pay for parking?

Thats pretty funny. Kind of like hardening your simulators so they can withstand a direct hit from a tornado, but failing to realize that if the weather is that bad you can’t get people to or from training anyway. I still say they should have built another training center in Phoenix instead.

Every airline that ever based at MCI is ded.

STL takes all the pressure off MDW without really affecting routes/flight times. Had two flights this year in Max's that couldn't land in MDW due to weight/braking.
The two located there that died, went belly up while I lived there. I no longer am in MCI. So the curse of the bambino has been lifted!

My only regret is not doing it a decade or so sooner.

I am still holding out for that TPA 717 base they announced to convince us to vote YES! on the SLI!

Exactly!

What is even sadder is when Dallas DID get hit by a tornado, they shut everything down because many of the people who live in Dallas were dealing with damage totheir homes.

Um…. Isn’t the whole point of this to protect the massive investment of something like 30 simulators and operational necessity of the training center, and not necessarily to operate during a a direct hit from a tornado? Don’t get me wrong, as a west coaster, I’d love a west coast training facility option, but I’m not following the logic here.

Yeah I get it. I assume that the other point is continuity of training. But having all of the training in a single location guarantees disruptions in training if you can’t get people to the training location. If you want at least SOME training to continue, don’t have it all in one place.

Kind of like if you wanted to at least keep the lights on in the event of an AD that grounds the 737, maybe don’t have a single fleet type.
