Two of them didn’t even bother to go to mediation, and the ones that did are engaging in traditional pattern bargaining. My guess is that SWA thinks they’ll get a 51% vote by matching rates at the big 3, and they’re probably just frustrated that swapa has been asking for all the other scheduling, QOL, LTD, ancillaries, and maternity leave type stuff because historically this pilot group has been motivated by money at the expense of everything else.
How many times did we hear “I make as much as a Delta widebody Captain” (well sure, you’re flying 170 TFP per month and you’re never home… but hey, your wife’s new boyfriend can reap the rewards of all that pay) All that SWA Pilot exceptionalism garbage comes at a cost.
The jealousy this group historically displayed (and still displays judging by the annual wiener measuring contest in the salary survey threads) led to a CULTURE of begging for every penny while ignoring everything else that makes a major airline contract worth working for.
I’m hopeful that ends this cycle. Yes, pay that is competitive (or even industry leading) would be great. But I want the laundry list too. If not now, when?

I like it except NO JA at all. there are other ways to cover flying or cancel it.
Funny when I was hired here. We were the highest paid pilot's period. I know it was because of the bankruptcies. But our pay didn't stop the growth and prosperity of SWA then. Being the highest paid pilots won't prevent that now. I expect to return to being the highest paid. Go figure we also didn't have any problems attracting pilots then either.

I had a convo the other day with a classmate, he said he made more than his buddies at delta... the difference was he was working 18 days a month, they were working 13 (maybe less). Yeah. Cmon guys. 12 days for 12 days and I want to see a larger paycheck for us.

Probably reasonable for them to say their fuel hedging program was contributing to that. Also if legacy’s were filing BK and flushing pensions; how can you say highest paid period.
The period means no context required, clearly context is required. There are stories of Northwest pilots getting a 1 million dollar lump sum check at retirement.
