Nobody is ever displaced until they are... Same with furloughs. As a 1221 club member I'm absolutely not counting on conditions tomorrow remaining the same as they are today.
First hurricane to hit the socal coast in practically forever is scheduled to make landfall by Sunday. It's extremely unlikely but if it lifts the roof off of terminal 1, who really thinks they're safe from displacement? Covid was unlikely. 9/11 was unlikely. The next major earthquake is inevitable but "tomorrow" it's unlikely. I'm not betting my family's welfare against the chance that something that was unlikely when it happened last time will not happen again the next time something else unlikely occurs.

Really, who cares? I am sure she is great to fly with, but I want no part of any of it, as it goes against my under the radar method of survival. I am so not emotionally invested in this job. Anybody who cares that much is automatically suspect in my book. Bring your kids up to the cockpit all day, I'll talk to them like they are actual human beings and show them anything they want to see, but don't put me in videos. I am pretty much the Creed Bratton of airline pilots minus the mung beans sprouting in a drawer.

You can rest assured the new TA will be industry lagging in ALL the major areas just like it has been for decades. The pilot group is concession oriented and has multiple givebacks and MOUs to back it up. There will be no re-write. Do Not come here if you have any respect for yourself or care about your family. If you just need to get the big airplane ticket punched, that's understandable. I was acquired not hired. 16 months to go. Good Luck!

Says a guy who clearly couldn't get hired anywhere else so he pinned his career hopes on ValuJet. Now there's a strong union shop filled with hardcore unionists from Eastern....
