I know we got a memo recently about prolonged use of engine anti ice not in icing conditions. I didn't think it was this serious. Ofcourse it is worst case, but still....

I don't think I'm mentally equipped for this brave new world we're living in.

who builds a plane that requires actual moisture at -39° Celsius to keep the engine cool?
It's not about the moisture it's a design flaw.
The plane is garbage. As is the neo Airbus. They rushed them both

Just stepped into an F9 A321 NEO cockpit to ask for a jumpseat. I walked out very envious. From the perspective of my MAX cockpit I’d say there’s nothing wrong with the NEO.

They have had teething problems as well. The Pratts are actually way worse than the Leap at this point. Right now there are aircraft with no engines on them sitting in various airports because they don't have any spares.

In a few years, these engines are going to be hanging all over the place and nobody will even remember these issues except maybe in passing. Problems develop. Engineers fix them. Engines are one thing in the industry that they still do right. Think about how reliable todays engines are. It's pretty freaking remarkable.

I was a jet engine mechanic in the AF. When the first 110s came out for the F16 we were changing them every 25 hours for hot section problems and the 220s frequently for various issues. Eventually they get the bugs worked out.

How long until they get the three-and-a-half minutes per side start-up time worked out?
