I have lived in MCI and STL. Both have some nice places, excellent schools, a reasonable distance from the airports.

Yep. Anytime anyone says somewhere is a sh!thole, it's usually because they heard something on Fox News who has a penchant for depicting democrat states and cities as dystopian nightmares or because they stayed a night in the airport hotel. These are the same people that diss on California to people that are from there like that is somehow ok.
News flash - every big city has its issues, including the ones in red states.

St Louis has a ton of nice areas, as does KC. A base in either place would be great. A base in Nashville would be wildly popular with crews because so many live there already.

Wait until you hear about CNN’s coverage of Florida, Texas, Georgia…etc! Apparently is really, really scary out there!! 😄

California has massively devolved. Don’t forget about those that call the Midwest “flyover country.”

I've lived in KC and STL for many years. KC is more of a western feel and has better BBQ. STL has better a better baseball team. STL crime was bad and getting worse after the BLM riots, which was why I left. I wouldn't move back even though the majority of my family is still in MO. Now that I'd be in a bigger price point for housing, I'm sure I could find a better neighborhood to live in and get more for my $ than DEN....but I like the outdoor lifestyle and climate better so I'm never leaving.

KC is the furthest east western town. STL is the furthest west eastern town.

STL areas of St. Charles County and west St. Louis County are good.

I lived in St. Charles, CO for over 20 yrs…it’s ok. My parents live in Lake St. Louis and it’s stayed relatively quiet. Where we lived in St. Peters and Wentzville have gone downhill. If I had to move back I’d be in Dardenne Prairie or Cheeterfield/Wildwood.

Lived in the KC area for 10 yrs..last 4 in Independence which is now a dump. Blue Springs/Lee’s Summit are nice areas or I’d be out on the KS side…Lenexa or Overland Park.

Going back feels like a bunch of tweakers were set loose and told to have fun. 🤷🏼‍♂️
