If I recall correctly, his parents work in IT or something for swa. Combination of optimism of youth (nothing wrong with that) and knowing the experience of non-front line employees definitely paints a different picture than the picture that actually exists.
I love that he/she has a goal. Their perspective may change as they go through college/regionals, no need to dash their dreams now.

Great question! I often find myself asking that too! 😂 Mainly I just have seen the way the airline works through family that works there, and all the people who work there are so nice and some have become great friends of mine! Their operation fits exactly what kind of flying I want to do, single type, short hops, and overall just the fun atmosphere!
It’s no longer a fun atmosphere unless you work in DAL and go to all the koolaid parties and convince yourself that’s what airline life really is.
You can have exactly the same flying experience at any major airline with the added option of being able to make a change if what you’re doing gets old.

HQ is a fun job. Deck parties, Pickleball , lots of food choices in the cafeteria. All the holidays off, get to hide during any issues or meltdown. The problem is the damn pilots, this company would be a lot better if it just got rid of the pilots.
