AIP
Our hotels are ****, simple as that, well at least the majority of them anyhow. I came from a regional and then an ULCC, and I had better hotels at the regional by far. I had amazing places to stay at the ULCC. I am not sure what our hotel committee actually does, but stay in the places they book us isnt one of them. I am trying really hard to think of the nice places I have been since coming here and really only SFO, LAS at the new place and that's about it. The real frustrating part is driving past the nicer hotels just to get to a dump that is farther away in a worse area lol.

When we were smaller, we stayed at some amazing hotels & quality was above average -then we went through a super rough season of red roof inns (with doors facing the street ) not so safe -then seemed to even out with a lot of Marriott / Hilton branding . I’m sure decisions are made in part my the sheer dynamics of numbers & we have a lot to provide for & the world has decided to travel & not always may a reduced rate . I’m not sure if you are an am or pm flyer (& that can make a difference ) of course Hawaii & all near international hotels are generally very upscale. Hope you can get to SLC, BOI, lax -if you can stomach surrounding area , SAN ,SAT ,MKE even LBB, & MAF may not be fancy -but have great beds , good cheap food options & you never wait for the van in those two places. DEN airport westin is great & you can take the train down -Spokane , TUL, & Lit , PBI , BNA are in good locations-Covid has really changed much of the quality of hotel life .

**if you are speaking about Portland , we have been at monarch since we opened that -not sure why we haven’t stayed downtown in the past , but certainly now understand with the extreme homeless situation there . I’ve never even once been to that shopping mall. May I recommend that if you like walking , there’s a nice walking area across the hwy in a wooded area that is shaded (ask front hotel -think it’s mt Talbert ) & Gustave’s across the hwy used to offer a solid happy hour in the afternoon & near midnight their time -with many German food items at happy hour prices ( lentil soup , cheese fondue & sausages )if it’s still open -I have not been in years

Only way my choice would be between those two and those two only would be if I lived in PHX, LAX or DAL. If I lived elsewhere it'd be SWA or UAL/DL/Fedex....which are all significantly superior airlines to AA in every way.

Was blessed with a 4 leg day on my last rsv trip. It blocked 6.3 and paid a bit over 8. Not a clue what AA rigs are (guessing you wouldn't get paid much more than block), but as a 8 yr SWA CA I made over $1800 that day (If AA pays block, I made more). I couldn't tell you the last time I flew a 4 leg day....but I'm guessing it's the type of garbage I'll get on rsv. I've never flown a 5 leg day here.
I'd fly rubber dog crap in a 1900 if it paid over $300k a year and I drove to work. IDGAF about WB or ice cream socials in cruise. I want days off and pay. I get 15 days off on rsv in a 30 day month and any trip assigned is added to my guarantee. AA's AIP doesn't even get you that.

Figure upgrade at AA even at 3 years, you are earning CA pay for a minimum of 5 FULL YEARS before a Southwest guy can even hold the bottom CA position on reserve. Throw in widebody, where all the growth will be as these huge retirement numbers hit, and your career at AA will far and away blow away anything Southwest has to offer. Think about that average 3.xx leg per day you have there too. Those do happen at AA on the narrowbody but in far less numbers. If you go widebody, one leg is your average.
Your 300k per year that you're working your a** off for is 2010 thinking.
