It's up to management to decide what airplanes we will have, but Southwest has the best scope in the industry and whatever aircraft management has up operate we will operate them and be highly compensated.
Agree 100%.

After 9/11 mainline shrunk and thousands were furloughed but the regionals grew by an extraordinary degree, fueled by relaxing scope.
Never again. I don't care if they want a fleet of clapped out Metroliners. They better be flown by Southwest pilots.

No but it will be a while till the next CEO takes over and Gary leaves.

I would think they would be looking at some A220s.

The 220 is pretty close in size to a -700, especially in an all economy configuration. An E190-E2 though… about 100 seats. Would really open up a whole lot of markets that aren’t big enough to warrant a 737.

The A220-100 is usually configured 100 to 120 seats.

Southwest B737-700 is configured 143 seats.

Delta has the A220-300 with 130 pax split between 3 cabins
Air Canada has the -300 with 137 pax in two classes

The A220-300 would be about 140 seats in our seat pitch and the E-195 E2 would be about 130 seats, so either one is a decent -700NG replacement.

I heard from a shuttle bus driver who’s friends with a ramp agent who is sleeping with a fueler that is married to a mechanic that told her that they are being spooled up to bring the 717 off of the Delta lease and fly them here…… it’s totally credible sources. The trannies will need new uniform pants once they see “the greatest aircraft ever built” in SWA Livery

Awesome. A divisive comment that brings exactly zero value to the conversation and has no purpose other than to antagonize a certain segment of the seniority list. Your mother must be very proud.
