Leisure Travel - Getting to Europe?
Wondering if any of you guys have experience getting to/from Europe. Wife wants to go on a Mediterranean cruise next year and I'm having a little sticker shock at the price of airfare to Barcelona and home from Rome or Venice. (Partly because she wants business class for such a long flight, but I digress...)
Don't really want to ID90 because we want to make sure we get there since it's a cruise. Open to your suggestions. I've never been to Europe so it's all new to me.

Edit: just found an article on the subject.
Anyone tried this? Interested to know if it actually works.

Come on Eeyore, pick up a premium trip or two between now and then and don't sweat the small stuff.

Check out this airline:

My wife is an FA and we will be starting a side gig for travel advice as she is the resident non-rev and tour expert. Be happy to help as we have done all of our trips via non-rev.
Start by browsing TravelZoo.com for ideas. Gate 1 tours are a really good value.

Zap,
In my experience, the best and cheapest way to get premium travel on the cheap is through premium travel cards and points. Join one of the groups like flyertalk and learn about how to turn an Amex or Chase travel card into the trip of your dreams by essentially using it to pay for stuff that you already pay for. This isn't the card the stews are hocking on the legacies, these are cards you can use on multiple airlines and hotels worldwide and get you things like premium lounge access.
I do the low key version and use the Amex gold card on groceries and restaurants (no small bill around the e6 household) and it adds up quick. People will post their experiences, including how to book using point transfers to foreign airlines at big bonuses and will alert you to premium reward redemptions on business and first seats. My wife and I are planning on a Japan trip next year, and this is how we are going to pay for the bulk of it.

I haven't tried this myself but I've now seen it recommended in a couple of travel blogs. When checking prices and/or booking, use a VPN and change your location to outside the US. Apparently, travel prices, including hotels, are often offered at much cheaper prices outside of the US.
Edit: just found an article on the subject.

That can be a SUPER fun way to both reduce your cost and experience more of Europe as well.

One thing to consider is to find the cheapest business class ticket to get you "in the ballpark" of where you want to start/end your cruise and then taking a train the rest of the way.

Weird. I don't have a USA today subscription. Let's me see the article without one.
Anyway, here are a couple of other links I found:
