Ditto. I’ve gone in August as long as I can remember. Going in June this year. What could go wrong?

It pains me to watch some of you voluntarily subject yourselves to jeopardy rides more frequently than is legally required by the FAA.

As someone who has been moved up every year since I started, I have a few questions for you. Do you just call in sick a day before you travel to go to DAL? Following that, what kind of luck have you had getting scheduled the following month, assuming you were only moved up one month from your base? I've heard getting scheduled for the following months training can be a real goat-rope, for instance if I my base month was June, they moved me up to May, but I call in for recurrent next week and June's schedule has already been awarded, blank lines will be awarded tomorrow, and LEAD ops has already published the training schedule for June as well. What would somebody expext scheduling to do for the following month in that situation?

How about if they move you up more than a single month. Say they move me up 4 like they did a couple years ago. Say my base month has been changed from August to April and for some reason I'd love to keep August as my base month. Are you calling in sick to training for four months in a row? Mind you, what LEAD ops has told me in regards to these changes is that even with them moving you up a single month, they're also changing your base month. In doing so, they're saying they only have a one-month grace period to get you back into recurrent, even though you went through AQP only 8 or 9 months prior. Is there something I'm missing in dealing with training scheduling when it comes to keeping a month you don't want changed, besides calling in sick and rolling the dice for the following month?

And why, for the love of all that is holy, can't we have a training bid?

Lead sked is worthless. Prob the most expendable department in Flight Ops.

I finished UPG training early this month and have been held hostage waiting for UOE now for over 2 weeks. Meanwhile, I’ve got CKA friends in other bases who aren’t doing anything (IOE, UOE, Line Checks) this week.

Didn’t sign up to make less as a CA than I was as a FO….they’re the worst employees at this company by far. Any TA that doesn’t neuter them immediately is a no vote from me.

Can you request a UOE trip in another base?

Yes. On day one they give you a QR code that links to a form to request the base and check airman you hope to do UOE with. They try to accommodate. So even though I was based in PHX when I upgraded I was able to do UOE at my home in DAL. It’s Lead Ops though so YMMV.

(Edit: wait, now I see you were suggesting that he could get his UOE done quicker if he is willing to go to another base. My bad.)

Yes, you can request any base. However, if you request a CKA in a base outside of the one you're based in or requested....then it's on you to get to/from UOE and cover any hotels on the front/back of the trip if needed. If they send you to another base, then it's on them. I could have done it this week with a MDW CKA friend, but I'm not in the business of doing their job for them or subsidizing bad policy. You want me there, you get me there and cover my hotels. Just because I request it is irrelevant...that's a cheap way of doing business. I did do a deep dive of all the non-blocked CKA in my base and some are doing IOE on guys needing 40-50 hrs to finish up. Seems new hires who finished up to a week after I finished have trips and we still don't....not sure if that's a Line Check schedule issue or they're just that stupid that they're willing to pay a CA 3x what a new hire makes to sit around at home.

Looking at the May 18 NC update. Looks like the company didn’t learn much from the SAV. Still slow rolling, doing the bare minimum to keep the mediator happy. Sure would have loved to be a fly on the wall and hear what kind of conversation there was in the room about the results of the SAV and what that means.
