That's all the button pushing is about. It's way less elegant than just hitting VNAV (and still hitting clean maneuvering pretty close to 3000 agl anyway...) but it's WAY better than the Mickey Mouse spinning the speed selector knob at a thousand feet stuff.

That is what our airline does as well. VNAV climb page is set with a climb restriction of CMS/3000 AFE, then at 10,000 select ECON when workload is much lower. This of course doesn’t apply if flying an NADP1 or ICAO A departure profile because the acceleration altitude is 3000 and already programmed into the T/O Ref page.
You could Jumpseat on 20 different 737 carriers and we would all find a way to do it different.

They want clean maneuvering until 3000 agl.

Not that I agree the new walkaround every leg will bring any meaningful change, I at least kind of get where it's coming from. But why in the name of Zeus's butt-hole does it also apply to planes terminated in a maint base/station where it already gets an overnight inspection?

I read the bulletin over several times on the first leg to terminate in a MX base after the change. I didn’t see an exception for terminating at a MX base. I’m hoping I missed something because that’s just pure harassment if that’s truly a requirement now.
