Guess all those years trusting an FE to do the walk around were so lazy and foolish. Can't trust anyone....

its be one thing if only one group did them, the pilots, but its everyone. Seems redundant to me.
Either way... my new game is who ever forgets to call 1000' when PM does the next walk around.

probably because their ramp personal are not trained to do it. Our is and they and thepilots both still do walk around every leg now. And also the mechanics and pilots do one in a mx base.

Endeavor Air did it just like we do (well did) when I left there 2018... We were told it brought us in line with what Delta did when that change was made a few years prior.

I did a walk around every leg at Endeavor as did all of my FOs when I was a captain. I was there before 2018…

Then you left before 2015-2016 time... Before then the Captain was required to do a post flight after every leg. Either pilot (usually FO) had to do a preflight before first flight in that airplane.

I left after you did. FO did walk around between every leg and first flight of the day. Captain did post flight at the end of the night.

just some history for you folks about why there wasn't a walk around at SWA... back in the days of the legendary 10 minute turns in the early days of SWA, part of the way that was accomplished was by training ground staff to do a walk around instead of busy pilots during the 10 minutes. this was approved by the FAA and has remained that way for over 50 years at SWA... until now. apparently a growing amount of missed things like bird strikes and a ramp staff shortages causing late pushes because they are completing the walk around has led to us adopting pilots walking the aircraft between legs.
