I had something similar happen, except it was the normal ground crew checker doing it. I guess they didnt get the memo yet.

If you're terminating a plane a PF walk is required EXCEPT in a MX base or Station. So don't be doing terminating walk around in Dallas lol.

Incorrect. Feel free to call the NOC CP and ask.

I have a feeling this policy is going to get tweaked, but in the meantime yeah, that's the correct answer. They changed the FOM wording and that's how they are interpreting it. Walkarounds no matter what.

I know what I am doing in maintenance bases on a terminator. What you do is up to you.

Supposedly this was the departing POI's last FU to us before he retired.

Hopefully we go back to something more reasonable.

It’s so sneaky the way the changed it. The new wording in the “Terminating” section makes no mention of a walk around at all, but it’s implied because walk arounds are now required whenever you are not operating the plane on the next leg and the new crew is not there.

interpret it like a NATOPs. It doesn’t say you can’t not do a walkaround at a maintenance base.

guys are getting all wrapped up about this. The rampers still do their walk around every leg. MX does their walk around at night.
no one is going to find that bird strike that keeps the company in business by noticing it 5 min before someone else. It's not about delays. I'd it was about delays theyd fix the 100 other things that delay us every day. Its about creating more divisiveness

Bingo..........

It's all part of the general pilot harassment program. Making easy hard for 50+ years.

Any pilot that does not conduct a walk around for every leg is a fool! I once found a Cracked Passenger window on a walk around prior to another leg. It was four windows in front of an engine! Instant FOD! That is Plain Lazy.
