Don't think that is the case based on my experience and section 5.I.3.b in the contract. They will only drop for no pay if the trip is a single duty day. Last year I had a really ugly overlap solution that made no sense to the company logistically (1.5 duty periods spent DH). I utilized a method outside of overlap correction to "fix" that trip but contract admin said they can do whatever they want even if it makes no sense.

I’ve had them pull the current month no pay before. Maybe I got lucky with a new scheduler.

So you slid through, huh? 😉

Congrats.

Is there anyone out there that’s left F9 for WN that can offer some QOL comparisons? I’m less than a year in at F9 and considering making the jump. Schedule flexibility is very important and I understand it’s good at WN, but would love to know how it compares from someone that’s seen both. Any other comparisons would be much appreciated too.

I had 26 off my last vacation month with 1 week vacation. Pay was 78 as awarded. Picked up some trips with CKA that all got pulled for IOE and a couple at premium. 17 days off (on paper not including the IOE pulls) or 21 with IOE pulls for a credit of 155. Not terrible for 10 days work.

Wish we could drop trips like F9 can...or is it NK? I can't keep anyone else's contracts straight.

That sounds like a great month! Drops at F9 are dependent on the number of open time trips available on a given day, so with the lack of OT it’s very easy to drop however there’s not a whole lot to add. You can pretty much drop any day except the big holidays so it’s easy to plan trips and such in advance.

Is your flexibility with swaps reliable enough to book a vacation months in advance or is it hit and miss?

I’m half way up the list and that is not reliable unless in the non-summer/holiday months.

the only way to make sure you get the time off for vacation is to take vacation or call in sick.
If you plan on taking vacation anytime one would normally take vacation plan on calling in sick as you wont get a summer or holiday vacation week from the company for 20yrs. Relying on trading is not a sure way to get the week.
SW is flexible if you want to work more. Working less is relying on someone else to take your trip. There is no reliable way to drop a trip at sw other than a sick call.

I have the 16th-31st off this month plus all of April off using two weeks of vacation and ELITT. No sick call on this block. I’m out of here, LOL!
