If we’re going by first year pay, then no one would ever go to UPS. There is a reason F9 is handing out a bonus. In your shoes as a Phoenix local, I’d target AA, SWA, then F9.

Sheet, Im pretty sure 2 or 3 of my new hire WN buddies this year are on track to make 130-150k. That second year EF/OT pickup helps.

Thats awesome. I worked my ass off in 2016 and make $90k on the old cba….1st yr pay was $50/tfp. Be nice to bump that up more and see newbies pulling close to $170-200 if they work it.

Especially if they play the overlap game. I used to crush it like this in my first year... I'd lose as much first year liability as possible in the overlap dropping me down in the 60s and 70's TFP liability. That ends up being your new threshold for the second year pay.

The trick is to cause an illegality with a lead-in 4-day trip necessitating them to drop it altogether. So for example, if you have a min paying 4-day, and you end up with the original line that was paying 90 TFP, you'll end up with 64 TFP threshold of 1st year after they drop that 4-day for illegality.

Forgive my ignorance, I just passed my PC and will begin IOE next week in BWI so I have no experience with this. Do you just bid a trip in the next month that overlaps a trip that your on in the end of the current month?

Bid via OT, trade via Elitt, or pick up from TTGA. I’d wait til you get your April award and then pick up something end of March. Doesn’t work well with rsv since they’ll just mush it together to make a 5-6 day block or adjust rsv times to make you legal.

Overlap is playing with fire...I use it but you have to watch out. Ever flown with someone who is on a six day trip or seen a six day trip in ELITT? That pilot didn't understand/utilize all the tools and got themselves into a bad overlap siutation.

Search the SWAPA site for "Month-to-Month Overlap Review" for a good explanations of how it works.

The only way you fly a 5 or 6 day trip is if you allow it. You can have them pull a trip with no pay if you can't fix the solution yourself. It takes some work though....bid the wrong line and they'll make a mess of it if the next month trip transits your base or near it at any point.
