Default FO timeframe for a line in Oakland and LA?

Anyone know the current time FOs are spending on reserves in Oakland and LA? Thanks.

Way longer than elsewhere.

Those bases are a revolving door on the bottom, and we have a really lame system in place that gives newhires entering their first vacancy a line to consolidate. That line is taken from senior FO's who are instead then given a more junior schedule or reserve.

Hopefully it gets fixed in the new contract.

It’s short. 3-4 months max and you will hold a blank (vacation, mil pull, and overlap trips with some reserve).

not as long as it used to. BWI is the new OAK. Less than 6 months to hold a line I believe I just saw…

That whole "new hire gets a hard line for consolidation" needs to go. It is subverting seniority. They should be able to get their consolidation done on reserve the way we use reserves. In any case, I'd welcome the company to buy off trips if they choose to, but not just make more senior FO's sit reserve unable to ELITT or fix their schedules because the bottom is a revolving door.

So if I complete IOE in mid-March, does April count as my consolidation month? What would my schedule look like the remainder of March?

They will build out the rest of your March schedule with trips from the same base you did IOE in.

April will be your consolidation month where the hard line will be awarded to you.

Make sure they process your IOE completion ASAP. If you get it done before the 25th, you can participate in ELITT for the following month. Can’t start trading until you are processed.

It doesn't even have to be reserves. Just build them a line like they do blank lines AFTER all the drops have been done early in the schedule process. There are ALWAYS enough drops to get consolidation done. And if there aren't (really?), the company can do training pulls.

Just build consolidation lines alongside the blank lines. It's not freaking rocket science, and it would preserve seniority.
