Default Stay at my regional or come here?

Im 38, making comfortable 4 year CA pay at my regional ($155/hr) and about to hold a line at ORD. I drive to work from the MKE area (about 1:15). My schedule is a little tough, but I don’t hate my life.

I just got a class date at SWA with likely a MDW base, and am honestly on the fence. Commuting to MDW is like an hour longer drive or more for me, and pay at SWA won’t catch up to mine now for at least 2-3 years. Seniority where I’m at now is cruising with all the attrition, and the pay gets more comfortable and QOL does get better with patience.

I know lots of people are going to say go to SWA, but there are some very real pros/cons. What would you do APC forums? Stay or go?

At your age with the time you have left go and go now. Your overall earning potential is better. The Money you make now isn’t what you made 3 months ago. Compare SWA to that rate. Go and go now.

I would come and then see if United or American call in the 1st year or 2. Good luck. I fly with quite a few MKE guys and they all seem pretty happy.

Retirement. Look into what the retirement is at your regional and then SWA. There’s more to life than hourly wage.
Southwest sucks at the moment yet it’s a better long term play. Take the job and apply then at United or AA IMO.

Can you return to your regional? If so then go and make the decision later on.

My 2 cents: you’re relatively happy now. Unless there’s some reason that UA wouldn’t hire you sometime soon, save yourself the grief: stay at your regional and actively work getting hired at UA ASAP. If you’re willing to move to a DL base if you got hired there, then work that angle too.

There's no need to take the extra step of going to SWA if you really want to be at one of the big 3 instead. From your current position you can do that.
SWA is chaotic at best now.
