If he made the decision thinking this is how it is over on the AA side, he's going to be in for a big disappointment. The majority of people who have 3 day trips that look like that at AA are flying widebodies. Maybe narrowbody pilots in the top 10% or 20% of their bid status can bid a line like that, but since 20% of narrowbody operations as of 2022 at AA involve reassigning lineholding pilots to trips they didn't bid there's no guarantee that is what your month will end up looking like. Add in the reality that scheduling has narrowbody trip trading/dropping/adding locked down tighter than Fort Knox and you have very little ability to adjust or improve your schedule. There are hundreds of senior widebody F/Os hiding from the commuter airline quality of life on the narrowbody side who could easily hold captain, many in the upper 50% of the bid status.
The sides of the airplanes may say "American", but peel back a layer of the onion and it's actually America West.

I will say that they have to be the worst as far as tech and archaic operational systems and processes simple because I can’t imagine a company that’s so inept and set in their ways.
Worse still, is their arrogance about it all. Something that I’ve been witness to for the past decade.
