Yeah I remember the whole “time value of money” drum he was constantly beating. He is living proof why there needs to be a test on trade unionism before any pilot starts at their first airline gig.

Even more importantly, to hold any kind of office or be appointed to any committee at SWAPA, you should need to pass a similar but more extensive test on how organized labor works, similar to a bar exam for attorneys or something. Ideally, you’d also have to affirm by oath that you understand and acknowledge that the RLA is not slanted against labor but, in fact, it’s slanted against the less educated, less informed, and “stupider” side (like a lot of things in life).

MCO captain resigned this week with 16.5 years on property at Southwest Airlines. He will now be one of the latest new-hires to join American Airlines.
Huge move. Wishing him the best for a happy and prosperous 2nd bite at the apple.
The hits keep on coming for the LUV airline.

Best of luck to the pilot on the move! This place is…. daring people to leave at this point. clueless management and folly after folly. Hope things turn around soon for those who are riding it out.

Don't think mgmt will care much. Wasn't it Gordon Bethune (while running Continental) saying he could run quite a profitable airline if all the employees were on 5yr contracts. I think that's the general sentiment of all airline mgmt, if able to replace with younger, cheaper labor, well that's a bonus.

Hello everyone!
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I put a lot of thought into this and consulted with several friends and family, including AA buddies. Everyone gave me the green light (even my wife).
Yes, I was sitting reserve from my car, hanging out a lot in Vero beach lol
Yes, I will now sit reserve from my pool!
I don't care about giving up 16 years of seniority. As MCO captain I was 91% anyway, so to me, I am loosing nothing. I will move up faster in MIA starting over. Yes, I could of bid back to FO, which I did for a little, but that sucked.
And as far as the financials at AA, they are not going anywhere. Way too much of a powerhouse in the US transportation system for anyone to allow them to fold. Bankruptcy? Maybe. I can handle a furlough as I have a few side businesses. (This would not be happening without that)
So, trust me, I have thought all of this out lol

You are making the right choice Max, Just the fact that TD says it is a bad move makes it a good more. That idiot is wrong every time he opens his trap .
