"We talked a lot about what's constraining the airline. And right now, that is pilot hiring. So, we have aircraft effectively that we are not producing capacity out of today because the constraint is just pilots." - Bob Jordan
Pilot contract negotiations day 1,005.
Let that sink in.
Jordan identifies the problem and then chooses inaction.

I would not say he doesn’t choose inaction. He has chosen an action, one that as of right now will continue to maintain the status quo. Status quo for him is maintaining the profit margin of this company at all cost. Due to market forces he has been able to avoid the book around issue after the Dec meltdown. Flights are as full now as they were before, much to our chagrin. The pilots and FAs without a contract are still SET, taxing at unsafe speeds, not taking food breaks and asking for shortcuts and working fatigued. They are still working all the OT that is offered. In fact I would venture to guess pickup has gone up. As long the as the status quo is maintained why should he change course?

Remember IMSAFE Plumbers!
Been seeing a few Food Bills and acquisition of food after long days. I’ll just pass along the goodwill I received from the LAS CP office about this subject. I quote “The only thing you’re guaranteed here is a ride to the hotel and a hotel room. If you need food I suggest you find a delivery service or pack it yourself”. This was the response when I asked about $8 Uber reimbursement to get my crew food at 10pm after a 5 leg, bust ass day. Hotel had nothing everything closed. I just hung up on this dude. Even after the 6-9 months that have passed - I’m still ****ed. Not about the answer but the way it was given. I will never call LAS Ops for anything again. My opinion he is neither a chief or a leader.

This is the big problem, and the main reason to avoid the company. It once was a place where the employees were treated well, and empowered to make leadership decisions. It is almost a rudderless ship where the frontline employees are expected to pick up all the slack. Nearly everyone is fatigued from years of this treatment, and few have the energy to carry the reigns anymore.
