Surprising, DEI solutions haven’t fixed IT problems.

SWAPA posted this one this morning. Made me spit out my Cheerios. (Which I pack in tiny Ziplock bags and sometimes eat with shelf stable boxed milk…) 🤣

Excellent article from Forbes, basically pointing out managements refusal to acknowledge issues is one of the biggest failure points of large organizations:

We should just go with $5/hr per diem. I have no desire to be given low quality, cooked in soy/canola oil, high carb processed crap. After 15 years of airline catering food at 3 different carriers, including 1 foreign airline, I have no desire to pick through a bunch of garbage to find the few ounces of meat that I may eat.

That's all well and good for when there is food available. What am I supposed to eat at 4am when I get to the airport and nothing is open prior to my 4 hour flight? I'd much rather have even the international meals that we have than zip lock cheerios in a coffee cup (assuming no coffee cup shortage) with room temperature shelf stable milk.

Or I just won't have food until 7 hours later.

The point is that we should have the option for both. It costs the company almost nothing (like sub $10), and even with $5 per diem, that still barely covers dinner and coffee.

My thoughts exactly. I’m not naive. I don’t expect the menu to appeal to everyone (although I have been told that UAL can order their preference via app… so some selection might be nice)
But they should at least OFFER some food for those times when we simply aren’t able to get food whether it be too early, too late, or the flight is too long.

Or we could…I don’t know…not operate at ungodly hours when McD’s can’t even be bothered to open. I don’t work hungry anymore.
