Still under your skin, I guess. No telling people how to vote here, just trying to correct things that too many have bought into. Everyone is free to believe whatever they want, however.

Again, I could care less about separate hotels, but I wait 10 minutes for them to roll, get in early with through pax…… I just bounce….. the van will come back….. if the van complains I take a taxi and expense it. Our release time is moved by our arrival time and our sleep is adjusted to more if early and penalized if late. Sorry to the FA group, fix your own and I’ll fix mine…..

Everything on this post I totally agree on. But will the FAA allow us to shut down an airplane without emergency lights armed with passengers still on board ? I mean yes it’s on ground service power but for whatever reason it drops ? People are then in a dark airplane. To me that seems like a flight ops policy that would have to get blessed by the local POI.

We definitely need different hotels from them. Some flight attendants are still on a vendetta to get pilots fired.
We had a group of flight attendants that didn’t make their flight as well. The next crew was just sitting up top on their phones. When I brought it up they said well we are just following the contract with a shrug…So maybe they are just sticking it to the company cause they’re ****ed about their contract ? Or they just love social media/hate working that much lol…

zman. I get sticking to the contract, I am talking about being 30 minutes late on the departure screen, then the FAs use the new ( 30 minutes late dept) as there new departure time for getting on the plane . The plan still could leave at the original departure time if everyone was pulling together.

I see what you are saying, I am a hard core AM’r so I don’t see the termination issues very often.

Totally agree. I get it if they are not "officially" on duty ( beginning of the duty day). After that, they need to make reasonable attempts to help the operation. The collateral damage can extend to your fellow Pilots/FAs.

They are becoming a cancer at this place. They do not want to do a service ever and then the pilots turn off the seatbelt sign , they get ****ed because now the passengers have a good reason to ask why they are not dong a service . Dallas needs to get it together and start ghost riding .

Simply put, our service sucks

I have found getting them to serve is not hard. I tell them how the rides are going to be and say it is up to them whether they want to get up or not, that I am not going to tell them one way or another. In other words, I give them the info and then I empower them to make the decision. Since it now falls squarely in their lap and they have nobody to take the bullets, they always serve if the conditions are ok.
I will tell them to sit for departure or clean up early, but that's it. I am not telling them to keep their seats for an entire flight ever again, no matter how short. My default answer is "let's get to altitude and see how the rides are". Dallas wants them to attempt to serve, even if they only get two drinks out. The customers want to see them make an effort. I am not married to one nor do I ever want to even have a conversation with one after work, so I am not going to be their shield for being lazy. It's amazing how when you jumpseat on other carriers, they don't have this issue. The FAs do their thing and if there is going to be moderate chop or turbulence, the cockpit crew tells them.
And I will absolutely turn the seatbelt sign off if it warrants it. No regerts. I don't want them to get hurt and I give them the very best info that I have to include recommendations about how to manage things around the forecast turbulence, but ultimately the decision is theirs. No more of this "the captain has asked us to stay seated" bs.

Respectfully, each workgroup has bad apples. We still have many of the old school SWA group that try to provide fantatstic service (with what they have). Many, like my wife and nieces, are as disappointed with the laziness and lack of respect for our guests as any one of us.
