bottom line.. it’s a good thing. The big 3 all do it and my friends there enjoy the flexibility. If we want things to get better, we need to embrace change.

you are putting quite a lot of trust in SWAPA not to completely hose us with the language and SWA not to drive dump trucks through the loopholes we leave in said language.

this is a concession, plain and simple. The answer to SWA’s asks right now is “that’s not ratifiable.”

Let’s just wait until the full language comes out. It’s not a concession if done properly. Most on TOF just seem afraid of change. That’s the problem w/ SWA and why things are still done like it’s 1995 here. If we want to compare ourselves and get paid like the big boys, we need to act like it. The cowboy days are over, we use autothrottles and vnav now..

If any party in the negotiations should make concessions, it’s the company. SWAPA needs to use their need for this language as an opportunity with the upper hand.

We are in a position where concessions are unnecessary.

I'm not going to grab my pitchfork and torch over the co-domicile thing yet. I'll wait for final language, but suffice to say, if the kompany wants to start a trip from a domicile and end it at a co-domicile (or vice-versa), it should be VERY EXPENSIVE for them to do this!

All hardlines will be built out of one station. If you get a blank line, I assume you could get one trip out of HOU and another IAH. But they will always start/end the same place. If you are reassigned from HOU to IAH, they must double DH you there. Just waive it, get paid, jump in an Uber and expense it. This is how the big 3 do it for the most part. it’s all in the SWAPA update.

my issue is we shouldn't have to wait on the language. We should have had it first before we AIPd it just like everything else in the flight plan.
If they wanted to consider it they should have asked the membership after they got the language.
Also I do not agree that we have to accept what OAL have in theor contract to get paid like them. I also do not want their pay, it's too low.
We do not operate like they do. They have co domicile because of hub and spoke. And I'm sure if you asked if they enjoy covering multiple bases at once they would not agree. Just because OAL have it doesnt make it good and definitely not good for us.
also having to uber and expense it is JV league.
Cant wait till pilots on reserve are called to get to the other airport during rush hr and the flight is multiple hrs late now or finishing at 2am and having to once again uber back an hr plus to get to your car to drive how ever long home.
To me it doesnt sound good and im not impressed with how it went down

they actually do enjoy it. Some live closer to one of them and enjoy the enhanced QOL it provides. Reserves will be allowed to Uber from home to the co domicile and back. That’s pretty nice and others do the same. We do not operate like them.. yet. Who knows what the company has planned in the future. Maybe they want them for international flying? We are also in no position to call anything JV league; we still do paper releases/wx, can’t figure out foreign currency and hand write the weather updates.

It is a huge concession. It allows a lot of flexibility...for the company.
It costs pilots time and money. Lots of pairings start or end with a single or double deadhead to these airports. That's money that pilots get for doing little or nothing. Those trips are gravy for commuters or non commuters that live near those co-terminals.
I will wait until the final language prior to passing final judgment, but for those of you who made the stupid decision to move to The Woodlands or Fort Worth and want the rest of the pilot group to bear that burden, I am sorry. This is a wide open, last minute concession that wasn't seriously polled and is being inserted at the 11th hour. No thank you.

Question for the group.

What are the chances the company wants a deal before the new SWAPA Board is seated?

Maybe they're afraid the new BOD is more militant and could dig their feet in, and the devil they know if better than the devil they don't know?

Coukd that explain their sudden desire to wrap things up?

Or, alternately, they want a poison pill to kill TA1 and play for more time/better negotiating environment for them.
