Here’s the SWA position on that list since 2013:

2013 - 7
2014 - 9
2015 - 7
2016 - 7
2017 - 8
2018 - 8
2019 - 11
2020 - 11
2021 - 14
2022 - 28
2023 - 23
Sorry, 2023 show a near 20% improvement over 2022? While I think they will fall off a cliff next year, this chart actually shows a significant improvement in 2023.

And importantly, DL’s PS is pensionable, meaning they get their B-fund contribution on their PS compensation.

SWA’s PS is not pensionable.

4 more reasons NOT to work for Southwest:

Uniform Expenses: SWA Pilots must pay for for their uniforms. Yep, everything is at the pilots expense: Jacket, Shirts, Tie, Epaulets, Trousers, Socks, Shoes

Uniform Cleaning Expenses: SWA Pilots must pay for ALL their uniform cleaning expenses

Employee Parking: SWA Pilots must pay for 100% of their airport parking

First Class Medical Expenses: SWA reimburses only up to $170 for First class w/EKG then the pilot may the difference.

Default Objective questions

Some questions to ask your SWA friends and your friends at other airlines. I'm sure there are more to add to the list but this is a good start.

How often are you rerouted?
How often are you JA'd?
How long is your upgrade?
How many aircraft do you have to choose from?
How long have you been working under an expired contract?
How long did it take to negotiate your last contract?
How does your current pay scale compare to your peers?
Have you ever had to get a hotel room on your own on a scheduled layover?
Have you ever had to get transportation on your own on a scheduled layover?
Have you ever had to sleep in the airport because crew scheduling lost you?
How many times have you had to call in fatigued?
How often are you used on reserve?
Are you released until report after a reserve assignment?
How long is your reserve callout?
What expenses associated with your job does your company pay?
How confident are you in the current leadership of your company?
Are you looking to exit your company?
Do you have applications on file at another airline?

Do you have to pay for your own parking?
Do you have to pay for your own uniforms?
Does your CEO reference you and ur coworker pilots as plumbers?

Do you get full reimbursement for your medical? WN pilots do not, and that is after having to fill out a pain in the asz. Expense report, to get what little the company will pay

This is a good stepping stone to get to career job

Southwest Airlines CEO Bob Jordan wont even fly on his own airline. BJ flew First Class on AA from BWI-DFW on 2/9/23, the date of the Senate Hearing in Washington DC that he failed to attend.
