Cellular was never a problem at almost 99% of the airports we flew. Even if there was no service we would just go get the wifi from the terminal or hotspot off our phones.
This, so much. I am not an OO guy but even years ago at my regional we had digital everything. In fact, thinking about it, we had it nearly 7 years ago. Can remember maybe 2 times in the 5 years I was there that we had an issue getting it, which simply required taking my iPad onto the jetway and grabbing wifi. I dont know what the big deal is around this place with modernizing and doing things a better way, but those in charge who are unwilling to change need to step aside.

As for the ATIS sheet, that is the stupidest thing I have yet seen. I fly with some guys that literally take 10 minutes filling that out with all kinds of useless information, meanwhile I am just looking at all the same data on my iPad. The best part is when the weather is bad and specials come out every 10 minutes. That sheet of paper is used and abused with so many scratch outs its comical. Old habits die hard I guess. Oh and for Zap, yeah I am not taking the time out of my day to slice the paper, sorry lol. Glad you are at least cool about your obsessive compulsive issues lol.

So after it's folded and flat, you'll pick it up and cut it?

One dude doesn't care for the sheet and then another does. I have combined everyone's preferences for what should be on the sheet except cutting.

I know. It's sad. It's my personal OCD cross to bear. Sorry. I'll buy the adult beverages at the hotel to make up for any and all quirks or eccentricities. Don't let my weird stuff become your weird stuff.

Just curious, do you write the time in the block on the Atis sheet?

when people say cut it you mean rip it right?
no one us literally cutting it with scissors are they?
I think the ATIS sheet thing has gotten more civil. Now people just do what they want when the are PM. Before it was a little more captain centric.

Yeah I regret mentioning it. But, I can take the heat.

and yes, rip. I’m not carrying around little plastic scissors. That would be crazy. 🤪

I remember my first day of IOE where I was shown how to rip the paper via the QRH or even the logbook. After that I've always just gave it a tear and dont care how it looks.
I've had several cpts tell me I need to write it down and fill in every block. I just show them in the AOM where it says PM will obtain the wx. No where does it say write it down. This usually results in them getting the ATIS every leg. #winning
