Keep up the good work UAW!

Their guy Fain is the real deal. A little inspiration to help SWAPA stay focused.

Membership is NOT interested in a ‘market’ agreement, please don’t bother sending out anything that doesn’t beat DL, UA, and AA in every area, including lifetime earnings.

“There’s an elevated level of militancy within the UAW right now. Fain is a disruptive figure with a bit of an unorthodox approach. Many auto workers are angry — they signed their last contract in 2019, about six months before the Covid-19 virus took hold. The pandemic would lead to huge profits for their employers, even as their own wages stagnated. They believe now is the time to get back the ground many feel like they’ve given up over the last 20 years.”

Cellular at the gate isn't good enough, and document handling on an EFB when wifi isn't working can be problematic especially when we must have a reliable way to maintain version control so everyone is using the same version of the document or dataset.

At OO we had everything come through the ipad. Manifest, takeoff perf, Release, MX log, MX writeups, weather, Jepp, flight plan, etc. Only paper we used was for the atis which was printed on receipt paper from the airplane. Cellular was never a problem at almost 99% of the airports we flew. Even if there was no service we would just go get the wifi from the terminal or hotspot off our phones.

But if we did that, then how would we keep in line with SWA’s MO of making everything more difficult than it needs to be?

You'll get nothing. And you'll do nothing about it.

I missed all of that when I came here.. it’s a time warp back to 2010. It’s pretty sad that SWA hasn’t done this yet, but I hear it’s coming Q2 2024. Oh, and please stop writing the ATIS by hand.. it’s on the iPad.

That's it, no more hand-written ATIS in my cockpit! I just checked the FOM & AOM and I can't find any specific requirement for writing down the ATIS.

It’s not there. Just another way SWA stays in the past. “Oh we’ve done this since the classic!”. So what.. it’s time to evolve. Please throw away the paper when you get it and pass it along to other CA.

The requirement is that that’s the way we did it on the -200! Case closed.

I flew with a certain Senior BWI cap one day that grabbed the ATIS sheet and filled in the Z time when I didn't.

Hell...

I'd be leaving random squares blank all day. On one leg, the dew point. On another, I'd only write the Fahrenheit temperature. Make a game of it.
