Lewbronski - I got your back on the contract…just playing devils advocate on the day to day.
It seems like we’d all get further if we could win on the issues vs attacking one another when we disagree. Pilots gotta stick together, especially if this new contract is going to be worth the paper its printed on. I certainly don’t want to scrape the barrel for pilots in the interim.

Bleed air, not sure if you even actually work here, but if you do, you are hated.
The people that hired you, the folks that schedule you, the numbskulls that play pickleball in DAL, and the brutally overcompensated accountant that is COtB, they all hate you. Realize this and make your peace with it, but don’t come on here like some sage prophet when you’re barely a new hire that’s choking on the koolaid that’s actually laced with poison. Get a grip. You are hated, along with all the poor suckers you’re flying with. (Or going thru initial with). Smh

And you think Delta or United execs are in love with their pilots?
All I’m saying is I’m not going to let the realities of corporate America steal my joy, and that the harsh neg attitudes expressed here are not representative of daily life at WN.
That doesn’t mean I don’t support an industry leading contract. I’m certainly bringing moths to the flame on that one. Seems to work better than the fly swatter.
Again - the more you attack me, the more you lose the argument. And I’m not even arguing!

16 years on, I am very content here. I make a lot of money/block hour/night away from home/whatever. We need an even better contract and we should work every avenue we have to get it. I am very thankful for the aggressive approach SWA is taking wrt the schedule. I remember lean years. I am also very disappointed in “leadership” direction and execution. I like to work hard and have chance to make 1.5-2X guarantee regularly if I want.
Warts and all I’d do it again and am helping my son to get here.
Standing by for incoming

I’m gonna chime in here. Lew, you post some fantastic stuff. But engaging in a personal tit for tat with a new hire isn’t helpful. I’d say that’s pi$$ing into the wind. A new hire anywhere is gonna be all gung-ho about their new employer, and you as a perceived malcontent are gonna be seen as a troublemaker. That’s normal, and to be expected. Perhaps a better approach would be to explain in short bursts something for them as a new hire to keep an eye out for, and why their vote matters and what some of the major issues are that could impact them very early on in their career at Southwest i.e. going on a medical and how it’s woefully inadequate here.
Bleedair, welcome aboard. Concentrate on training, and start learning the contract. That’s the playbook. Southwest is great in some ways, and it falls well short in other ways. We have a fantastic pilot group, and one cannot overstate that. It is contract time, and the company is stonewalling us. It’s immensely frustrating repeating the words “yep, told you so” over and over again. In the end, it will get done. Support your union, and demand and expect nothing but the best and industry leading. Remember, anything we leave on the table is going to Wall Street and executives. You vote on where the money goes, so don’t be afraid to vote NO. In fact, I was on probation the last time we were voting on the contract, and I voted against our current contract. Realize you’ll be fed koolaid the entire time you’re there because you get a vote on any new TA, and they count on you not having seen the other side of the coin just yet. That’s why it’s important to keep a perspective, ask many questions and listen.
Good luck in training.
