Commuting sucks. I wouldn't do it again, I'd move or find another local job. I only work to support my family's lifestyle anyhow so there's a pretty fine line between what is and isn't tolerable for me.
Right now, SWA is a bit of a hot mess but it's possible to get past that and do ok here. Ignore everything but report time, making sure the release isn't stupid (like being told to take a full -800 into MDW in the winter with a release that is legal only because 30 min after a the storm passed through the dispatcher re-planned for runway condition 6 dry), auditing your own pay, and payday 5 and 20.
Focus on that, ignore everything else especially how things woulda coulda shoulda been here or elsewhere, and objectively you'll find that SWA isn't a bad gig. You just gotta be willing to completely ignore everything except report time, the release, auditing your own pay, and 5/20. Oh yea sick out of anything you don't want to do. Quite literally everything else here is infuriating if you pay attention to it, but the trick is that mostly you don't have to if you don't want to. If you can do that, yes absolutely come on over and enjoy not having to commute. This place is as hard or as easy as you want it to be.

Training question.
Hi, slightly off topic but didn’t want to start a new thread.
If you have a buddy in your future class can you request them as a sim partner?
What is the show time of the early sim period and how are sim times decided?
Thanks!!

Yes, you can ask but not sure who to ask. I knew two guys that requested and got put together. Maybe email one of the people emailing you about first-day items. The worst they can say is no.

The early sim brief starts at 0530 and is in the sim by 0700. There are four sim periods A, B, C, D, and E. I don't know other times besides A because I was on A the whole time. They can not assign the E period for the check ride. Unfortunately, the sims times are given to you without any consideration.

Bid Fly vs Pass. Me, I'm going to blank lines. I'd rather have predictability than TFP. But still 10X better than my previous fractional.

Bid reserve, especially PM. I average 110-115 TFP and never pick anything up. The fire drills just happen, WX delays/overblocks all summer, reassignments, move ups, etc.
