We have people here afraid of their own shadow, Not willing to take it to court with prejudice. Kind of like being your own negotiator or attorney.

Maybe it's time to join ALPA. Pay ALPA level dues, get ALPA level results.

F that $h!t !!! ALPA is a total joke, and those over in Northern VA think they are politicians. I’ve been bent over by ALPA for 11.5 years at 2 different carrier in 22 years, and have zero desire to be apart of any ALPA carrier.

The unions are only as strong as the local MECs and other chairs are, ALPA National is like the Federal gov’t self indulging fat cats and worthless. I liken it to the Fed Govt and lots of State Govts. State level will make or break you.

Look at how ALPO national just rolled over during the mask and clot shot mandates. No thanks.

Rumor is that a February class date new hire can hold DAL as a base in about 3 months. Any validity to this?

The will (or lack thereof) of a pilot group has a lot to do with how successful they'll be at the negotiating table.

We've proven, time and again, that we're willing to accept considerably less than our peers, WRT industry standard contractual language and pay.

For all the reasons you've mentioned, an ALPA drive would be a complete waste of time here, an unneeded distraction that we need like a hole in our collective head, not to mention higher dues.

Yep. I think the best argument against ALPA is what ALPA allowed to go down at UA ALPA during their 4+ years of negotiations, culminating in June with the concessionary Tumi TA. During that entire time, UA ALPA never filed for mediation which, after six to 12 months of negotiations, is like waving a giant red flag announcing a union’s incompetence.

The UA membership elected a CK-like figure (Todd Insler) to head their union and, over time, their MEC and staff became more and more inbred, finding ways to remove good pilots who challenged Insler’s inanity. In many ways, UA ALPA became like SWAPA 1.0. And don’t forget, “SWAPA 2.0” still has a ton of SWAPA 1.0 DNA floating around.

Anyway, the fact that ALPA allowed UA ALPA to become what it became is proof that ALPA is nearly worthless. If ALPA was worth their dues, ALPA would have intervened in the tragedy that was/is UA ALPA. Read more about it here.

Even if UA ALPA manages to clean up its disaster via the recalls that are going on, ALPA’s failure to step in after more than four years of Insler’s and the MEC’s self dealing has cost the UA pilot group a ton of money and lost opportunities.

Nobody knows what vacancies will look like in the future. The March vacancy opens on Thurs. Those hired in Feb won’t bid until the May vacancy….I’d guess within a couple months of hitting the line but it’s just a guess.

Clearly you've never been represented by ALPA. No, thank you.
