Thats how I felt when somebody would (speaking about the short upgrade times at Brand X) say "yeah but you have to be based in New York!" In a tone dripping with disgust.
I'd be thinking "So?! At least they have the CHOICE. Oakland is equally undesirable but at least you can GET to New York from anywhere in the country!"
Pilots are our own worst enemies.

This requires a brain surgeon-level IQ to figure out.

Dallas flight ops seems to think New York is the worse place in the world. ( Who wants to go to New York ?). I guess they have never been to gang infested OAK .

It was my second favorite commute, DTW was number one. DC and DFW tied for last. ATL was ok except for the flow delays.
YMMV

Also, shouldn't being an FFDO be a requirement to go to OAK? I mean, at least in theory you can shoot back.

Don’t forget OAK is a FedEx domicile and mini hub now. Lots of great options to commute space positive with those fine people!
I just changed bases. I’ve been two from the bottom for the last six months and the ONLY thing keeping me there was a day time, nonstop, commute on UPS that made my experience as a commuter stress free. I’m gonna miss that. It was like having my own NetJets account. 😆 Space positive, hot meal if I wanted one. Best part of my (work) week was heading to domicile on those guys.

The past CEO ,now chairman of the board has turned the whole company against the pilots. Nothing better coming to work where everyone hates you . The only plus SWA has, is a good pilot group and the company is trying to ruin that .

I think I lost travel benefits as soon as I my sick bank dried up.
When you go on LTD you go on COBRA ($2100/mo for me and my family) and lose life insurance. If you get hit by a bus your family receives the benefit, but if it’s a long slow death they get nothing and are left with the crushing debt of hospital/burial bills and no life insurance to help cover expenses.
Everyone here (or anywhere for that matter) should have outside life insurance.
