the one I saw presented as a breeder. Cool dude, did his job well. I was just taken back by the difference in standards our frontline employees have

There are 23 year olds in the training center right now. They may have spent a year or so at a part 135 job. It's on us to get to know them, understand them, and teach them. This starts with being able to relate to them. Right now, they just got handed their dream job at an extremely young age and they get 4 months of kool aid prior to hitting the line. We have the luxury of time, but having spent 8.5 years in the right seat, I can tell you that some of you guys are in for a shock here in the next 12 months and talking at them about how hard you had it and how they need to be more like you ain't gonna work.

No, it was tongue in cheek saying that two weeks prior to training these kids had purple hair and septum piercings. That statement is not probably far from the truth. My intent was to say that SWA hasn't seen a new hire group like this in....well probably ever. Your reaction is exactly what my point is. They don't care about purple hair and tattoos because they aren't 50 years old. They relate more to the dreadlock ops agent and the fingernail CSA LGTBQ employee than they do you.

As for “having to” relate to them, I see your point but to what extent? I think it’s more incumbent on them to learn the history and struggles of their chosen profession, no?
I’ll teach and mentor IF ASKED, but I don’t want to be that old guy that browbeat me when I was new.

Well good. Here I thought there was actually a NH pilot walking around with purple hair. That’s fine for a Starbucks barista but not for a professional pilot. One of us would be getting off that trip for sure.

I'll do a go around every day until they figure it out but I'm not an instructor anymore

I disagree . I've been there and done that with several other comapnies to get here. I dont want to be expected to teach or mentor NH. They should have experience and not be told when to put down flaps, gear, etc. If they want to know how to make more money or not get screwed over I'm all over it.

Just imagine the mentorship and learning that'll occur once they hear the horrors the AT folks had to go through. That's going to win some hearts and minds and be a real spark to a great 4 day for them.

Tell ya what chief. If you don’t know who I am I’m sure some others on this forum can fill you in per their previous claims. So why don’t you come up to me out on the line and air your grievances to my face.
