That's gotta be one of the easiest commutes we have.

Yeah this is my first 121 gig to not have a commute, I did it for over 7 years to another time zone. I consider myself extremely blessed to not have to commute at all as I was awarded my desired base right out of the gate.

I have news for some of you guys. There are 23 year olds that had purple hair a couple of weeks ago gracing the training center halls right now with pilot seniority numbers. They were born at the right time, you weren't. Some of them will have over 35 years in the left seat making more money than you dreamed of making In their careers. They were able to do this because they hit the date of birth lottery and because the struggles of decades of pilots before them (you) made this possible.
Don't be upset, jealous, or envious. Try and teach them a thing or two and maybe relate to them and provide a little mentorship. You will be surprised what you can learn yourself.
Start by asking questions with an open mind. There is a whole new generation of pilots who aren't going to know or care about your struggles. It's up to us to help them understand how this career works and to help them avoid the pitfalls that we had to learn about the hard way. These kids are going to be negotiating the contracts we retire under.

The purple hair? Noooooope. Gotta go. That’s not gonna fly with me. What does the employee handbook say? Anyone know?

That last post needs to be imprinted on the brain of every pilot hired before 2022.
Its a new era. The company is likely counting on some naiveté.
Is SWAPA far enough in front of this plane? Either they must know there is a great deal on the table, or they need to downshift and mash the gas, because they are not acting with urgency in this old dog’s opinion.

The hair comment was past-tense.
The point is they have a different perspective, and need to be shown/mentored why this is important before its too late and lost forever.
Pilots can be grouchy and jealous. That will only alienate these young dudes that hold claim to the throne.

Saw an ops agent with dreaded, colored hair. Huge gnarly beard. Nose ring, eyebrow ring and tattoos all over. I dont think appearance standards mean anything anymore.

There’s a CSA in STL that fits the same description but also has painted and pointy fake nails. It’s a “he”.
