There goes profit sharing. I say we make them take it out of their compensation. The C suite is what I'm referring to.

JetBlue Valentines Day massacre circa 2007 maybe? Think that ended up costing north of 30-40 million dollars

I am guessing this meltdown will be 300-500 million.

Thank you crew scheduling . Single-handedly ripped this airline apart. Also a shoutout to the VP of ground ops.

It may be even worse than that. Southwest is trending #2 on twitter and the comments are crazy.

I think you are the right track with the VP of ground Ops but crew scheduling???? Unless they hire, train and set policy I don't see them at fault any more than Pilots. Not to mention all of the other departments that had some contribution to this episode. If management makes it impossible to perform during IROPs the blame lies squarely with them. I imagine being a scheduler during this time was not much fun.

Reputational damage this bad makes me wonder if another airline buys SWA with its own money, breaks it up and keeps only the scraps they want. Valujet was still profitable after the accident but the damage to the brand was so severe they had no choice but to buy AirTran (the -200 operator in Orlando) just to get their name and retire the Critter brand.
