The 737 is definitely a dinosaur. It's loud. It has a cramped cockpit. It is way closer related to a 707 than a modern designed airliner. But.. the 737 family (especially the max after all the extra scrutiny) is about the safest airliner ever made. Anyone who says otherwise is either a simple dolt, or has ulterior motives.

There is an article in AvWeb that describes the NPRM regarding a proposal to change FAA certification standards and procedures. It says, basically that all new aircraft will have all involved parties, MX, Pilots, management etc. a say and input. It seems to me that this is the FAA's way of mollifying Congress and any criticizing populace.
My tea leaves say this will handle the politics of the Max 7 nad on to the next BS issue! The Max 7 will come online as envisioned.

Oh I'm not complaining. The cramped cockpit and noise suck, but at least we actually have control of the thing instead of using the controls to offer suggestions ie Fifi.
