Default Check Airman Opening

Serious question—why would someone take a check airman position at this time under these circumstances? They issued the recruiting email today.

weird, a buddy of mine is on the UPS hiring committee and the only apps being processed from SWA are recently hired guys. There is a lot of talk about leaving from “senior guys” but no one shows up in the application pools. Same for FEDEX and DAL….. just an observation

May want to check your sources on that. From SWAPA about a third of attrition has been from 3-5 year FOs. We recently had a 5 year FO leave for Delta. Current state of our contract and airline has a lot of FOs doing cost benefit analysis.

No hiring committee at UPS. If your buddy is doing hiring at UPS he is a non-union management type.

If I were a FO under 55 and lived in ATL, I’d bolt for DAL without hesitation… no matter how many years I had a SWA. ATL and MCO are where seniority goes to die at SWA. If you jump for DAL you’d be upgrading in less years and have much better QOL year over year than SWA.

Not in ATL... and especially not after we just hired 2300 pilots this year.

I think he’s just comparing that the movement is still better DAL in ATL than it is at SWA. I believe I heard ATL is one of the few bases SWA isnt growing, and it’s already super senior.
