Great policy and truly one I strive for, however when that “heads down, blinders on, 5th & 20th” policy is T-boned by fellow employees with a certain social agenda who are backed up by their managers on that agenda, and a company that doesn’t hold them accountable in the least bit for making false accusations, then it gets a little concerning to go to work and employ your recommended tactics.

Case in point: SWA present day. I spent a week vacation with of one our domicile reps about a year ago. We didn’t talk much shop as it was mixed company, but the stories he told me made it clear that there is a very distinct and focused assault on pilots by a small group of fellow frontline employees and a disdain for us by a much larger percentage of HQ employees.

A country has its borders, its laws and it vigorously defends its borders and enforces its laws. We don't. Thank you President Biden. And I'm saying this is as a LEGAL immigrant who only has 1 continent left to visit. Notice how NOBODY on the left or in power uses the word "legal" anymore. Need I say more?

Also, as Bill Maher famously said: "When I was a kid, I wanted to be a pirate. Thank God, nobody took me seriously and scheduled me for eye removal and pegleg surgery." It's funny how we've normalized infantile or mentally ill behavior and protected it against "discrimination" so instead of helping those people via mental health help, we simply made crazy "normal" and if you don't like it, you're a bigot and an *ist.

What a country we live in these days, indeed....
Precisely, as a fellow LEGAL immigrant from one of the most oppressive communist countries, it deeply saddens me that I’m considering retiring aboard, but American society continues to swirl down the $h!ter at an ever accelerating rate.

Likewise…. I already own property abroad and plan to retire there.

This really isn’t gonna end well here.

Eventually we would like to end up in Houston or DFW, and with SWA having both as domiciles, they're looking pretty attractive (assuming a CJO shows up). My big focus would be on QOL, and living in domicile I think there would be the opportunity to have better QOL and make up for the slightly lower pay than some of the other majors. How senior are each of these bases, and how quickly could someone expect to hold a line at either one?

Cheers!
So, does this answer your deeper question of whether you should come to SWA or United? I see you asked this over there also. Were we the bigger jerks or United?
BTW, I get the woke part. I left the mil and might have had the same comment as you did, fully knowing it’s part of the civilian world too. Just way more dangerous potentially in the mil. Easier to 5th and 20th it over here.

I really like it here in Houston. My son wants to come here and I don’t advise against it, assuming he evaluates UAL/Delta. Knowing what I know now I’d still come here.

With a few years to go, so much can change, and there’s interesting people in every workplace. Socially woke or conservative is everywhere, and it doesn’t bother me at all. I just want to fly planes, and if the Air Force swings back to letting CAS platforms do that, I’ll stay in. If not, I’d love to fly for an airline and be home more. If I can be near family while doing it, even better!

Yup. Too much trouble when going down for drinks. And I just spent the last 12 hrs of my day sitting next to the same dude. No need to spend any more time together. GOOD JET! (Except all the stuff that’s wrong with it that I didn’t write up and the 4 MEL’s listed on the release that you have in your hand. Need me to tell you all the MEL Procedures? No? That’s ok I’ll tell you anyways.)

There are a few guys that I will have drinks with after work. Maybe 15 dudes total. We generally try to split off and go somewhere else.

Everyone else can pack sand. I could care less about making small talk with stews that are just hoping the captain picks up their tab. I find my own company more enjoyable and engaging than talking about some old lady's grandkids or figuring out what I have in common with a twenty something other than I have kids her age.

I would rather put my feet up, pour my own drink, put a show on my iPad or watch a game, and maybe call my old lady and talk about her day. It took me a few years to realize that I get zero fulfillment out of hanging out with coworkers after hours. 5 and 20.

I can 100% relate. I’ll have a drink with my iPad, AirPods, and a good cigar all alone any day.

What constitutes teaching? Acknowledging the existence of gay and trans? You know like how some 1st graders have two dads or may bear witness to a trans adult or teenager walking around. Ron Desantis is a rock star. Though I hope he doesn’t shrink when somebody asks him if white supremacy is bad without deflecting to “all racism” is bad.
