I am sorry if I hurt your feelings talking about my fellow Floridian Ron D, who was also born there around the same time as me. He was just an example out of thin air because I have a strong connection to him. It could have been anyone.
I find it funny that so many Florida transplants get their feelings hurt when you tell them that their adopted state is the butt of a joke and will always be. Don't get mad, own it!
Signed,
A REAL Florida man.
Trust me, I'm not hurt, it's just funny how the US press(minus FNC)/ DNC (one in the same) moves on to whoever is perceived as the HMFIC of the Republicans of the day as evil, demented, and somehow the antithesis of all homophobia, racism, antisemitism and any other ism the press can muster.

The governor signed a law implemented by the FL congress/senate and he was just reelected by a considerable margin over a past governor.

Turns out a considerable majority of Floridians don't want their kids first grade teachers teaching their kids about gender and sexuality.

As a former Floridian, you should be thanking your current statemates that by only 50,000 votes in 2018 the state missed narrowly electing a meth addicted, federally indicted Tallahassee mayor as governor, man how would have COVID gone for FL had those 50K peeps not voted.....

I’m new here and I can say this thread pretty much sums up this airline. Old right wing extremists who believe some secret group is out to take over the country and are determined to live the rest of their lives miserable, controlled by news media. Had to put my blinders on after my first trip off IOE. Holy cow 😎 what a country we live in these days.

it’s going to be a very interesting next few years in this industry as sub 30 year old pilots will be flying with 60+ year olds. And it won’t be the young people who aren’t able to play nice 😬

Come to work. Do your job. Get paid.
Rinse and repeat. If you stray outside that mantra, you are opening up yourself and your family to a world of headache.

Houston and Dallas are both equally fairly junior for FOs. Dallas is grown out and is really only going to add pilots as headquarters seagull jobs appear. Houston is getting ready to add some gates and has a little wiggle room to grow as is. Had a FO jumpseating the other day who was awarded Dallas in her 4th month on the line.
You should explain "clean kill" for those that don't know. I'm also surprised we spend so much energy trying to keep the same hotels and overnights with the clean kill crowd.

Wait, it was different before? I’m in my 14th year as a 121 FO. Plus almost nine in corporate. Just dive in. You’ll be ok.

And Oklahoma? Yeah right.

3-6 months to hold either, in the current environment. Dallas is generally slightly more senior than HOU. They both have their advantages/disadvantages as far as SWA pilot bases go.

As you can tell, we have pilots on both sides of the political spectrum who work here. 90%+ of my trips here are with people I have no problem with at all and would fly with again. And I usually have no idea how they vote, nor do I care. I show up, treat everyone with mutual respect, do my job, have a cold beer at the end of the day, and then go home to my family 2.5-3 days later. This forum loves its drama like 24 news channels.

You know...Bill Clinton once said: "We are still a nation of immigrants; we should be proud of it. We should honor every legal immigrant here, working hard to become a new citizen. But we are also a nation of laws." Not anymore... You say, what a country we live in these days... sorry, no. A country has its borders, its laws and it vigorously defends its borders and enforces its laws. We don't. Thank you President Biden. And I'm saying this is as a LEGAL immigrant who only has 1 continent left to visit. Notice how NOBODY on the left or in power uses the word "legal" anymore. Need I say more?

Also, as Bill Maher famously said: "When I was a kid, I wanted to be a pirate. Thank God, nobody took me seriously and scheduled me for eye removal and pegleg surgery." It's funny how we've normalized infantile or mentally ill behavior and protected it against "discrimination" so instead of helping those people via mental health help, we simply made crazy "normal" and if you don't like it, you're a bigot and an *ist.

What a country we live in these days, indeed....
